New Ultrasound Scan Services
FLAS has introduced new Ultrasound scan services at the Manzini and Mbabane clinics to best address the needs of her clients. New services include Obstetrics, Pelvic Ultrasound, Abdominal Ultrasound and Prostate Screening.
For Obstetrics, an ultrasound scan will be used to check for the foetal viability and position during an Antenatal Care visit. This will ensure accurate monitoring of pregnancies as nurses will use scan reports to present exactly the state of the pregnancies, to determine whether a particular pregnancy is normal or not. At this point, the radiographer can predict the possible delivery date. At 25 weeks, the foetal gender can be determined through the Ultrasound scan.
In the new package, Pelvic Ultrasound will be made possible. The scan can assess pelvic organs which include the uterus, ovaries, urinary bladder to rule out any abnormalities like the presence of uterine fibroids, cystic lesions and pelvic inflammatory disease.
Abdominal Ultrasounds will also be conducted in the new package where the scan will be used to assess the outline, size and location of major organs namely the Liver, Gallbladder, Kidney, Pancreas and Spleen to rule out any abnormalities like abdominal masses, kidney stones, gallstones and liver cysts.
Prostate Screening completes the new list of services where the radiographer will be able to measure the prostate gland size and rule out benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or any other abnormalities.
The introduction of the new services has also enabled improved working days where Ultrasound scan services are now provided on a full-time basis from Monday to Friday. Service availability as follows, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in FLAS Manzini Clinic. In FLAS Mbabane, only on Wednesdays. Ultrasound scan services are available on appointment in both Facilities.
